Currently, data transmission lines are the basis of the infrastructure of the economy: local or global (LAN and WAN) infrastructures should be as accessible as possible, regardless of the topology: bus, ring or star. In practice, they are found in the form of mixed forms with various types of cables: Twinax, twisted pair, coaxial cables and optical fiber. For each case, the company CITEL has developed appropriate protection blocks. The Cat.5 series of devices is applicable in various network topologies and standards (Token Ring, ISDN, 10BaseT, 100BaseT, FDDI).

The protection blocks of data transmission lines CITEL are made on the basis of a combination of three-electrode gas dischargers and fast compressor diodes, thereby achieving maximum protection efficiency and the necessary level of safety in case of pulse overvoltages.
